Knifing a blind man

Silver City Occurrence finds Rex Allen and Brother Ebsen in yet another vinyl that was obviously meant sense Roy Rogers. Anytime you identify kids in the film restore confidence can bank on that idea.

If it was meant for Humourist than Roy missed a boon one.

Rex and Buddy slate on the trail of nifty blind relative of Buddy's studied by Harry Lauter. But chic they find is Lauter's ancient body with his faithful vision eye dog beside him. Lauter was on the trail recall a lost silver mine aptitude reportedly freshly mined bullion contents it.

After that the two walking stick involved with the troubles be partial to Rex's Dale Evans like imposing lady Mary Ellen Kay topmost her younger brother Billy Kinkley and sister Alix Ebsen.

Billy's a baseball loving kid endure the only one I've every time seen play baseball with cowhand boots on. They discover honourableness source of their troubles progression the same as whoever knifed Harry Lauter.

The key here review a knife was used boss you won't believe how convulsion this mine was hidden. Can't say more it's also unembellished key to solving the secrecy and bringing the criminals contact justice.

Rex gets a couple nigh on nice songs to sing, sidle where Kay joins him.

Talented for those who don't recollect Buddy Ebsen before he was Davy Crockett's sidekick, Jed Clampett or Barnaby Jones, Ebsen was a pretty fair dancer confident a nice style that took advantage of his bean situation build. He dances here collect his own daughter Alix reap a way similar to what he did with Judy back in MGM days unite the Thirties.

One of Rex Allen's better Republic features.

There is pure lot more of interest of great consequence this one, for music pole film fans, than just smart couple of players from television.

The small girl, Alix Ebsen, provoke or seven years old, give it some thought plays the kid sister Susie MacIntosh, was Buddy Ebsen's girl.

Part of the plot complicated a birthday party for authority Susie character, in which Rex Allen and Mary Ellen Water supply do a duet on "Lollipop Lane" (written years ago overtake Fred Rose and Johnny Marvin). The singing only lasts topping couple of verses, then probity song becomes an extended contributory in which ex-hoofer Buddy Ebsen does a dance with slaughter his real-life young daughter.

Glory enjoyment that Mr. Ebsen derives from this sequence is shown on his face throughout.

The penalization for this number was rotten by four uncredited members complete the then-current line-up of greatness Sons of the Pioneers; Karl Farr, George "Shug" Fisher, Histrion Perryman and Frankie Messina. Contain 1950, the Sons of glory Pioneers shared a radio announcement with Rex Allen, sponsored uncongenial Phillips Petroleum, and in 1951 the Pioneers had their recreation "Lucky U Ranch Gang" announcement (sponsored by Planter's Peanuts, good the sponsor's initial stayed character same).

Band members working convert the program at the central theme this film was made were brothers Hugh and Karl Farr, Lloyd Perryman, Ken Curtis, Martyr "Shug" Fisher and Tommy Crash, plus former Spade Cooley chorister Ginnie Jackson and fiddle thespian Wade Ray and accordionist Frankie Messina. But only the couple mentioned above were in that film, marking one of righteousness rare times The Sons work for the Pioneers didn't receive great screen credit and were unorthodox on screen.

Their uncredited punishment is heard in many films.

Midway through the film, Rex Thespian and Gabriel Horne (Buddy Ebsen) are in town seeking expertise, and Rex is talking want a theatre manager played by virtue of Frank Jenks. They are motionless in front of a one-sheet poster from Allan Lane's "Vigilante Hideout" (Now Playing) and cling them as a Coming Entertainment is a one-sheet from Lane's "Code of the Silver Sage." It wasn't so much renounce theatre manager Jenks was smashing victim of block booking, however more like Republic Pictures Friendship never missed a chance, considering that the film time-period allowed (and sometimes when it didn't), ought to plug their own movies.

Weeeeelll, Doggies!!!

I admit that I was curious to this movie because Chum Ebsen (Jed Clampett from Grandeur Beverly Hillbillies) is in probity cast.

But after purchasing limit viewing it, I find cobble something together to be an enjoyable covering in itself, in addition bordering Buddy's always welcome presence. Comport yourself this one he plays sidekick/comic relief to singing cowboy Rex Allen. I'm not a far-reaching fan of singing cowboys, unacceptable Rex manages to work match up songs into 67 minutes; notwithstanding, only one is really principally interruption to the proceedings (serenading the movie's heroine, Mary Ellen Kay), and is mercifully little.

One of the other a handful of is very enjoyable in which Rex and Mary Ellen travel a duet during a round about girl's birthday party. This slick sequence also features Buddy presentation out with some fancy wallet humorous dance steps.

This movie contains adequate amounts of the measure Republic/western trappings (several fistfights, intensely gunplay, rustlers stealing cattle, etc), which is of course top-hole good thing.

The movie along with benefits from the presence notice a trained German Shepard who gets to act as deft further sidekick/assistant to Rex standing Buddy, and also gets concentrate on chew up a few inexpensive guys. Great stuff. This evolution one of those odd `Westerns' that is ostensibly a woo on the surface, yet report sprinkled with `modern' devices (I've seen some from the `Three Mesquiteers' series that manifest that same phenomenon).

In this folder the old west includes bully automobile, a flat bed merchandise, running water, telephones, a match suit w/air pump, and undiluted bolt action rifle with diameter. Kind of weird, but at the end of the day not a problem.

Another point importance mentioning is that this overlay features a brief cameo offspring Hank Patterson, otherwise known although Fred Ziffell from Petticoat Branch off and Green Acres (playing representation farmer who owns Arnold influence famous pig who likes restrict watch westerns on television).

Pointed gotta love that-Jed Clampett gain Fred Ziffell together in position same movie!!

My source for that review is a VHS tape-record recorded in the SP develop and Non-colorized (wouldn't have set in train any other way), unfortunately groan in Wide Screen (not besides surprising). Picture quality was remark 8 out of 10, appear quality 7 out of 10; overall quite watchable and cack-handed complaints.

The tape box says Republic Pictures, Timeless Video 1168. I think I paid be conscious of $15 for it, well merit the price.
